The terms Cattle Rearers, Ranchers, Pastoralists and Nomads are often inter-used as not to clearly represent what they stand for. Agreeably the dynamics of movement, mixed farming, synergies, and manuring, often clearly divide these. Technological advancement, class and accessibility are also clear dividers
After having drawn 200 operators from the four groups, we put their operations under the microscope as we document what they have in common and apart. This is not done theoretically or definitively, it’s in the practice. Completing a virtual tour into their operations, we come together as a benchmarking focus group for '11 days' in Angola.
With a comparative approach, we look at the herdsman ship, the conflicts, the challenges, conservation threats, finesse, the technologies the cultures, the divisions of labor etc. The exercise concludes with a presentation on prospective areas for collaboration despite the featured operators being societies apart
